My Dog Ruthie

Upon hearing the answering service call that a reddish haired dog with a broken leg and her curly black haired
puppy were under the convent porch I drove there,  crawled under the 2 ft high space between the ground and the wood to retrieve them, Stupidly catching the puppy first, never thinking that her mother could have bitten my face off, but she did not harm me. She was taken to a veterinarian who set her leg. He said she was a thrownback wolf. Her puppy 2 months old was placed in a loving home. When picking her up, it was a surprise to find we had immediately bonded and so she became part of our family. Her name was Ruthie. Months went by. The 4 humans in our family went away for the weekend, Knowing the inlaws did not want a pet
to come with us, we put her in a kennel. Returning i was told she had crawled up the 6 feet chain link fence and jumped over. My heart sank, but moments later, she was in the nearby field. When she saw me she shot foward
running like the wind. Daily she went to the office

with me. For our years together my intelligent loyal Ruthie's unconditional love humbled me. I will be

reunited with her some day.
