I see them coming

I see their formation

In the sky 

I see their feathers

Fluttering In the wind

I see how they move

In perfect unison

As they find a spot

To land 

And rest

I see how they 

Almost nose dive

Toward the ground

But as they get closer

The slowly back flap

Their wings

So they don't thud

The ground

Once the land

They calmly put

Their tired wings

Away

As they all get

Close so they could share

The warmth

They tuck their heads

Under their feathers

To keep warm

They look so peaceful

As they rest

You notice one or two

Are on guard 

They look annoyed yet content

With their mission

Of keeping their flock

Safe from predators 

Once another has rested

They switch off

Like humans do

It really is

Exciting to watch

These creatures 

And see how close

We are to one another
