The Rhythm of Contention As I stared into the shadows
I glimpsed a beacon in the sky
Burning through the rain clouds
Striving hard to shine its light
As the storm raged on this city
I felt the fire burning bright
Through the frigid raindrops falling
I felt the fire in the night
And as a random thought passed through me
About everything in life
I felt the beacon shine down on me
Screaming don't give up the night
While the stars hid behind the cover
And the storm poured from the sky
The thought faded to another
And I opened up my eyes
The beacon in the darkness
Yelled to stare into the fright
Don't give up on living
Stand and keep up the fight
Don't let the memories exist
Only to blind you from your life
And don't ever let yourself give in
Or to yourself you will lose sight
When I was lost and on the edge
The beacon came into my life
Told me, in the end it will be worth it
If I hold onto the night
When I thought I'd lost it all
There was no further I could fall
When I thought to just give up
It came and sheltered me in love
And when I woke up from that night
The beacon shined into my eyes
To my broken heart it shined
To tell me all would be alright
And to the beacon burning bright
Shining down on me tonight
I send my praises to the sky
In thanks for showing me my life
You still..
have that mysterious touch ROC.
