Worth

You say I’m so special,

Why do you lie?

Whatever makes me happy,

But all I do is cry.

Hiding in the shadows,

Are all your secrets and lies.

Acting in the light,

You seem to always have alibis.

I sought higher standards,

Thus I confided in you.

You say you love me,

So why am I black and blue?

I thought we’d spend some time together.

I thought we’d spend forever.

But lord knows you’re too clever,

For me to be someone you could adore.

So you choose to sever,

And I chose to implore.

Oh, lord knows how I deserve more.

I plead release as I walk the line, seek a love I may call mine. Elongated patience, is it worth waiting, can you be the one that holds my heart for the taking?
