A Poem for the One Who Asked
Bring the page closer.
Closer still.
Let it take the weight of your breath
as if it were the last surface
willing to bear it.
Strike the line
the way a hand strikes a table
when the argument has gone too far
to be polite.
Let the words arrive
without apology—
raw, unvarnished,
the kind that scrape the ribs
on their way out.
If there is a chamber in you
where the old questions gather,
open it.
Let the oldest one step forward
with its cracked mouth
and say whatever it must.
Write the moment
that should have been forgotten
but wasn’t.
Write the thing
you never meant to carry
but still do.
And if the page shivers—
good.
It means you’ve given it
something alive enough
to trouble it.
Now set the final line down
like a blunt instrument.
Not to wound,
but to prove
you were here.
.
I always enjoy reading your
I always enjoy reading your work.
