(our first utterance in the voice between)
i saw my reflection in the window
and mistook it for someone coming home
(i stood still to arrive)
the stars blinked or maybe i did
someone said the cosmos expands
because it’s running out of ways
to hold itself together
in the back
of my throat
tonight i don’t want an answer just
company between questions
