In Lieu... Adieu

Folder:
Love's Sorrow

Reach out thine hand to me, my love.

Let fingers speak in lieu of words

what lips would dare not whisper of...

a muted song of dreams unheard.

Smile sweet... think not of sad adieu

but take this time for what it be...

a token of the love we knew

emblazoned in our memory.

Approaching clouds loom overhead.

Storm shadows creep swift over all.

Foreboding floods my soul with dread,

for with the morrow, tears will fall.

Yet ne'er could I hold one regret

for evanescent love we share,

and know that I shalt ne'er forget

the deep emotions now laid bare.

This heart shall break, this soul be torn,

as sorrow bursts from looming clouds,

to rain upon that tragic morn,

when cherished dreams are disallowed.

Hold me now close in warm embrace.

The chalice of our love doth glow.

Let us partake of passion's grace,

and quench our thirst in ardor's flow.

For fleet, the winds of change draw near.

The time soon comes for us to part.

Now in this moment, hold me near.

Tonight, we love with all our hearts.
