" Dragon Child " (For Me)

Dragon Child O' Dragon Child
born of passionate, furious fire,
To seek and find an equal mate
is the Dragons one true desire,

If your love beckons to me I shall land
at your feet with thunderous claws,
To stand before you with my Dragon Eyes
and search your soul for any flaws,

I will not settle for anything less
than a heart that is loyal and true,
I am the mightiest of all the worlds creatures
my only threat would be in loving you,

Will you prove your love as I would prove mine
and protect it unto death?
Or will you reward my devotion with unfaithfulness
and risk the wrath of my Dragon Breath?

For love I would rip out half my heart
for you to hold forever on,
But if you hesitate, with a flick of my tail
and a rise of my wings I'll be gone,

I have the power to soar up to the sun
and the stength to live-or die alone,
It is up to you to show my Dragon Heart
if it has finally found a home,

Will you FIGHT for me? DIE for me?
let free my unending love to run wild?
Will you love me? hate me? yet love me still?
and bring peace to this Dragon Child??..........

Author's Notes/Comments:

As you can guess I was born in the year of the Dragon. This is my imagination of the Dragons deepest and most fiercest traits, AND expectations, regarding love..I am a Dragon Child....

Interesting

I enjoyed reading through this. Is it a reflection and wondrance at who you are? I like how you refer to yourself in third person. My taste is a little less flowery, but i enjoyed how the words flowed as I read through it. Thank you for posting this!

Sorry this took so long love

ok so I really liked how you played off the mythology, the use of giving half the heart to someone, although the orignal myth the Dragon cuts the whole heart out and puts it in a chest in a cave, it can live forever and its powers are given to who ever controls the heart, but if someone finds the heart and stabs it the dragion dies on the spot.

I did find the wording awkward, which for me took away from the flow and therefore the emotion which came across, which made me slightly sad because the emotion behind this was awesome, and seems how just finished loving a 'dragon' the whole notion of dragons loving and how they would love really hit me.

I think it would help alot if you read it aloud and notice where the sentence doesn't roll off your tounge like a french accent 'r'

hope that helps
