Flirting with the Sun

Another rainy day,

Gloomy is the sky;

Suddenly a glimpse of sunlight

Catches my eye.

Bright at first, not blinding,

And slowly turning dark,

As if to say "Ha ha!"

And leave its happy mark

Before returning to its home,

Hidden behind the white

Of the rain clouds, still stormy,

Staying stormy through the night.

Flying in an airplane,

Way high in the sky,

You remember their faces

As you had to say goodbye.

Your family shedding tears for you

Because you have to go

Off to some foreign land,

One you barely know.

You see the sun behind a cloud,

Then it comes out to play;

Maybe it will come tomorrow

For a bright and sunny day?

In this episode of yours,

Flirting with the sun,

You realize there is just one thing

That can always be done:

Putting aside some time

And havint a little fun.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Perhaps not one of my best, but I'm sure it's not my worst; I'll probably rewrite it someday to make it sound a little better.
