...Runner...

Folder:
Poetry

In this relay that they call life
You are like the baton that's forever in front of me
That of which I yearn for
Yet could never grasp...

Why am I still running?

In this ascension to the top of Mount Olympus
You are the torch that I hold close to my heart
Yet as I look at you each time
Your flame burns ever so different...

Why was there ever a spark?

As my heartbeat echoes at night
As my sight sees spots in the light
As my pen lands and the ink glides
Even in sleep bursting signs of life

And still...

You keep on running...

So I keep on running...

Until the fire extinguishes...

And my lungs burn out...
