Truly Indivisible

Folder:
September 11

In an instant,

OUR world was no longer simple.

Paradoxes became both blazingly evident

and differences grossly unimportant.

Our eyes,

moist with the tears

that can only come from

events that are both

epically tragic and

senseless, beheld each

sight in ethereal incredulity.

What has come to pass?

Only the ages know.

And they, tell us of

the changes new and

frightening.

Our world,

our thoughts,

our lives,

forever altered.

As our bretheren

lived, died, and

sally forth to fight

the terror from without,

now, felt within.

We celebrate the lives saved

and the life savers as we grieve

for the lives lost.  And the

loved ones sobs echo the souls crying

out to justice's scales for equilibrium.

And as we blanket ourselves

as one nation, truly indivisible,

under the icon of our Freedom won.

We stand.

Forever steadfast

and never to be vanquished.

Author's Notes/Comments:

After 9/11 I could not write at all. It was almost 3 months before I was able to put pen to paper again and this is what I wrote to express the anger, frustration yet hope and solidarity of us all as Americans.

I think this poem really hit home with me when you said; "
We stand. Forever steadfast and never to be vanquished" It was indesputably a tragedy what happened and it will never be forgotten.
