RIP/TV

Sitting upon your shelf

tucked politely against

the patio wall,

you provided hours

of entertainment for

the lonely and

physically deprived.

Then came the day

you were all alone

on the patio, the shelf

gave way and there you lay,

crashed upon the patio floor.

Your voice is heard,

Your picture lost,

Your useful ways are

nevermore.

Rest in Peace

Author's Notes/Comments:

The shelf split for no apparent reason.

You write about your tv with great affection...I tend to write about that particular appliance with hostility, but I do miss it when it's gone - your poem brings back that feeling. Love your voice in this.

Linda,

Same thing happened to mine in 1986 on the terrazo floor - only caused by an attempted robbery - I managed to revive it, and although I have to give it a kick in the side now & then, it still delivers a good pic.

Made me laugh!
