Me and My Month

       1.

Everywhere around the globe

someone holds a month so dear.

When I finish these simple thoughts

You know my month is here.

I shall start at the onset

with a saying that holds true:

"March comes in like a lion

and goes out like a lamb."

I don't know who said this,

I can see why today they do.

It has to do with weather, crops

and how we live.

It has to do with nature

and what she has to give.

          ***

           2.

As days passed by, we approach

a warning of doom and strife.

For on the 15th of March in 45BC

Julius Caesar ended his life at

the hands of his friends and protégés.

A soothsayer tried to warn him

"Beware the Ides of March" are here.

Your death will soon be upon us.

Your dictatorship will disappear.

               ***

                 3.

Beyond the omen that people did dread

History continued to be made,

We hap upon the 17th of March.

We all know as St. Patrick's Day.

Patrick as a lad was orphaned and enslaved.

He escaped the demon that bonded him,

and safely got away.

He found his God and to Him he did pray.

He was led back to the shore which he did leave.

Back to paganism and disbelief.

As a servant he was to his God.

His truths he did relay, his sorrows he did grieve.

For all of who believe in God.

Shall live this very day.

On the 17th of March @460 AD

A sad thing happened many say.

Patrick no longer roamed the land

He was dubbed a Saint upon this day.

Every year upon this day

and in proper style.

We give honor to this man.

He chased the "Snakes" from the

     "Emerald Isle"

            4.

There is another day in this month

    that some of us admire.

It is the 21st of March,

a day that lights my inner fire.

'Tis the beginning of Spring.

The cold winds of winter are gone,

flowers start to bloom,and

hibernation ends with the first yawn.

As I approach the end of the month

There's so much to be grateful for.

A time where new life begins.

A time for winter's thaw.

Now my simple thoughts I write

and passed them on to you.

May you enjoy the days offered here.

And look forward to all things new.

Great job! I like the way you get to the important stuff--winter leaving and some warm weather coming through! LOL I saw on the weather channel tonight that Florida is under a hard freeze warning nearly to the keys. Are you tired of the cold already? Spring makes me come alive again, as does Autumn. I guess the color lights the artist's fire in my soul but at any rate, I'm with you! I'm ready for it. This is a very unique way of getting your point across and I really enjoyed it. Thanks,
Jessica
