Talent Well Hidden

There are many talented people

harboring ideas and goals

Locked inside themselves

hidden amongst invisible

stories told.

Don't be timid, don't be shy

Don't hold the artist deep inside

Open up, let it out

Share your dreams, memories

and visions with pride.

Author's Notes/Comments:

All those who view yet are too shy to bring forth their talents.

Linda, I had never read this poem of yours before and I really like it. This is well said and also good advice to people of ALL ages. I find I do better emotionally and physically when I stay involved and get things up and out of the creative insides of me. As usual, you hit the nail on the head with your words.

Warmest regards,
Your friend,
Jessica

This is a really good poem, I think it speaks true of a lot of people who has a lot of talent hidden within them, a lot of hidden potential, but does not choose to show it. Your poem is a very good, I don't know if what I just said makes any sense, I'm hardly a poem critiq or anything, I've only ever wrote about four or five poems, but I really like your poem. Keep up the good work, and I'll read through the rest of your poems.

thank you for this inspirational poem - how true it is that many people hide their talents deep inside and never let them out. So sad, I think most people have something to say but are afraid to share, scared of what people will say.

great words to live by...for almost 20yrs I kept my writings secret...it took a marriage ending to get me to see that I must share all of me...

Well said!! I sure do hope they listen.

There was an old parable in the "Old Testament" about God giving three men a certain number of talents to see how what they would do with them. Some people interpret the talents as money, but, for me, I believe it is just that - our abilities.

Such a waste if an artist or a poet never used these gifts.

I loved this one.

A sad but true statement. An invitation for those who hold
back, not to---in a concise poetic manner. For those who
ARE oceans of creativity, and hold back, such a natural sin,
and a waste of humanity.

I like it very much... Not much i would change...Well nothing i would change it was great.. Much love...

Excellent advice given here,Linda. We may not all be a Wordsworth, but can still enjoy each other's efforts.....And you never know! the next one may be a masterpiece.Sometimes a poem of which the author doesn't think much is received with rave reviews.I've had that experience myself.

Smile.. it is the cheapest facelift.

Kept my poems locked away afraid of what people would say. I got brave and posted here, You have been such a dear. I was afraid the critique would say my poems reak. But as your kind words flow, I think I'll just right some mo.

Good message Linda. Well expressed. So many of us do just as you advise not to do. And for what purpose? To what avail? I hope that everyone who reads your poem opens up and dares some self- expression. Fleur
