To have a friend to love
A person who loves be a friend
Is only a dream, not a reality.

One must open up their heart and mind
And allow the friend who loves to enter

I used to have many friends, but alas, we've all drifted apart.
Actually, the only treasures to be had on this earth are love and friendship, that's really the only things that count....and you've expressed it well!!! Great write!
It is true Linda and I've learned probably the hard way, that to have a friend, you must be a friend. Sometimes the most difficult thing in the world is to let someone into your heart. For many, there will never be but the dream of friendship.
Indeed, it is the essence of friendship that makes us humane enough to be called human. And please, put a "d" in Friendship. Now, Friendship is love at its moving, acting reality: "One must open up one's heart and mind And allow the friend who loves to enter..." These are powerfully touching lines, Linda.
