A LOVE SO LOST Part 2 (THAT REAL LOVE)

Folder:
"Love Lost"

Remember back in the day?

Back when it was all about your high school sweetheart;

Your middle school sweetheart…

Back when simply holding hands gave your heart this incredible rush…

When a kiss on the cheek made you actually blush…

Back then it was no tongue kissing; just lip to lip –

Counting with your fingers; trying to last a whole minute…

Like...

1 Mississippi; 2 Mississippi; 3…

Remember missing the bus on purpose just to walk her to her crib?

Knowing that Moms back home waiting with the switches...  the ones that’s tied up & wet at the tip…

But back then you sacrificed an ass whooping for love…

What about them Valentine’s dances when she would remove your hand from around her waist and place it on her butt…

See, to you that was making love…

It wasn’t all about sex-ing or freak-ing…

And when you told your boys that y’all slept together,

You simply meant that y’all fell asleep watching TV…

Whatever happened to that real love y’all?

Like that first crush you had on the girl jumping rope….

It wasn’t about her titties jumping; or her ass bouncing…

Just the music that came from her mouth when she spoke…

And when she wasn’t double-dutching,

You were doing cartwheels, backwards & frontward flips…

From the sliding board, to the monkey bars, to the…

Merry go round… and around…

And, doing the butt was just moving your hips…

Whatever happened to that real love y’all?

Back then there were no Saturday morning hair appointments,

‘Cause her moms just put it in them two pigtails… with that big bang…

And you would sit up in class and let her clean your nails…

Left your boys on the court just for y’all to hang…

And all she wanted to do was just walk around the track…

Hand in hand, she looked at you, but turned away when you looked right back…

No conversation except for the voices in your eyes…

And the times you did open your mouth all you could do was, sigh…

Back when love at first sight was not a dream, but reality…

And fantasies came alive,

‘Cause all we had in mind was, under the bleachers, kissing & grinding…

Whatever happened to that real love y’all?

When emotions had no timing,

And you didn’t have to wait six months just to say,

I love you…

Because the truth hit you at first sight –

The truth being, her –

See that light shined bright,

But see; now we have to follow a certain format before we’re in love,

Right?

Naw… ‘Cause that real love lives inside of me y’all…

To be continued…

Author's Notes/Comments:

This particular piece is
a reminder of how "love"
used to be. It truly seems as if we've completely lost touch with the true essence of
a beautiful thing. And until we learn to stop trying so hard to dissect and place a time
limit on love; and that love controls itself, we're going to continue missing out on a blessing from God.
