All the Best Poets Sit in the Smoking Section:22

INT – PANCAKE HUT TABLE SIXTEEN – NIGHT

Saturday, August 19, 2000.  10:57pm.

JOHN and JEFF are at table sixteen.

JEFF is wearing the same shirt.

JOHN is in different attire.

JOHN

You know, when I'm down, I usually head to Metropolis or Sugar Jacks.

JEFF

Strip bars?

JOHN nods affirmatively.

JEFF (CONT’D)

I haven’t gone to a strip club since the mid-eighties.

JOHN

Why’d you stop?

JEFF

For one, I got a little ‘weirded-out’ from this dancer who did her whole routine to Amy Grant’s ‘Unguarded’ album.

JOHN

I can assure you they don’t play that at Sugar Jacks; it’s mostly hard rock and country.

JEFF

John, you go there to get drunk. You know how I feel about drinking.

JOHN

Trust me; the ladies look a whole lot better after you’ve had a few shots.

JEFF (V.O.)

No, not another one of John’s cockamamie schemes!

JEFF (CONT’D)

I’m not going with you.

JOHN

Well then, how are you gonna get home?
