EXT – STREETS OF NE PORTLAND – NIGHT

TITLE: 122nd AVENUE.  Sunday, August 6, 2000.  1:35am

Everclear’s ‘I Will Buy You a New Life’ plays while PHIL HAYE’S 2000 Mercedes peels out from the RASCAL’S PARKING LOT, heading North towards the airport.

INT - 2000 MERCEDES – NIGHT

PHIL HAYES, dressed in nice clothes and a power tie, is DRIVING the 2000 Mercedes.  

JULIE sits next to him.  

PHIL HAYES smiles and lowers the volume in his stereo.

PHIL HAYES

You reflect brilliantly in my eyes

JULIE cuddles up to him as her glittering breasts heave together.

JULIE

That’s a really nice CD player.

PHIL shrugs his shoulders.

PHIL HAYES

Stock.

(BEAT)

See that?  

PHIL points to the West Hills.

PHIL HAYES(CONT’D)

Ever been to Council Crest?

JULIE

Not at night.

PHIL HAYES

I remember going up there back in high school, before I moved away.  I’d love to see it again.  It’d be sort of nostalgic

JULIE

And Romantic too!

JULIE puts her hand on PHIL HAYES’ knee.

JULIE (CONT’D)

So you don’t even live here?

PHIL HAYES

No, I’m just in town for the weekend, the view’s remarkable; you can see the city lights sparkling in the river.  It’s like you can touch the stars!

JULIE

Let's go then!

PHIL HAYES

But I thought you wanted to watch the planes take off?

JULIE

No, I want to touch the stars!
