Thank You Mom

Folder:
2001 Poetry

It's the Christmas season and time to think

of what you really have.

Like you, my Mom who comforts me,

when I am feeling sad.

~

You may not be my Mom by blood

but blood doesn't make a family.

You just being here to talk to

is real enough for me.

~

You always tell me how much you care

and give advise on what to do.

You always seem to know the answers

cause you have been here too.

~

Telling me you love me

means much more than you know

And I always know I can come there

if I need a place to go.

~

The words you tell me are comforting

they dry my tear soaked eyes.

I thank God that you're here with me

I swear you're an Angel in disguise.

~

Sent down to earth to help us out

to show us what life really means.

You've been through just about everything,

life has been split at the seams.

~

You've been here for me through everything

when times were getting rough.

And solace me when I had cried

and felt I had gone far enough.

~

Right now you are feeling lonely

I can see it in your eyes

I hear it in your words

But your strength subsides your cries.

~

Hurtful words and scolding pain

are nothing new each day.

And who knows what he'll come up with next,

when he's got something else to say.

~

It seems like no one is listening

like no one knows you are there.

But I want you to know how much I love you

and how much I really care.

~

Your saddened face brings me to tears

not knowing what to say.

Wishing I had the power

to whisk your pain away.

~

I know you'll be happy someday

when he is out of your life.

Cause the pain he is causing you now

is cutting like a knife.

~

Just always remember I love you

and we're never really apart.

Cause anytime you need me,

I'll be right here in your heart.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I wrote this on 12-24-01. It's for my second Mom. She's been here for me through everything.. more than my real mom.. and that's why I say blood doesn't make you family.

Jill,

I just read your poem Thank you Mom. I loved it
I like the way you write. I don't say what people
want to hear every time but I am always honest.

There is no one like Mom. I happen to have the best
Mom in the world. I am so glad you had a good Mom
too, even thought she was not your birth Mom.

I have only read two of your poems but I will be back
keep up the good work. Wow you have soooooooo many.

Love and prayers
