My Black People

Now don't get me wrong, I am not nor will ever be prejudice. But I have to say that I love my black people. Being a black woman among society, it ain't easy at all. I got the strength though to keep me going. My ancestors blessed me with that. We have come such a long way. The struggle and fight we went through to survive. Yet and still, we are deprived of so many marvelous things because the white people are considered superior over us. When are we gonna see a BLACK president? When is there gonna be the next BLACK movie to blow out the box offices? When is the BLACK man gonna make more money than the white man? No one knows. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. fought for our rights and got killed doing so. So many others have represented for us as well, Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, Malcolm X, Booker T. Washington, Sojourner Truth, Mary McLeod Bethune, and Jesse Jackson just to name a few. We have come so far and yet we are still so far away to being regonize as an equal. But we will never give up. We are grateful for what we have and we have the eagerness to get what we want. That's the power our great ancestors left behind. That's what I love about my black people. Despite all odds, we are still pushing forward. I truely am proud to say that I am a black woman among society. I wouldn't have it any other way. I love my black people.

Author's Notes/Comments:
