You're Smiling

Karyn Indursky

You feel hollow inside
like you're nothing
without being able to
successfully move on, but
you can.
You feel brutally shattered
in a broken world, but
you're not.
You think you're incompetent
of loving someone again, but
you're wrong.
You believe you're guilty
of doing it yourself, but
you're not.
You feel forever frozen
in endless time, but
you're not.
You feel utterly smothered
by your depression, but
you're not.
You feel violently compelled
in hurting yourself, but
you won't.
You feel defeated again
without a solution, but
you're wrong.
You feel suddenly liberated
in embracing opportunities, but
you're scared.
You feel blissfully motivated
towards making friends, but
you're timid.
You feel wonderfully revived
by God's help, but
you're intimidated.
You feel renewed happiness
by being alone, but
you're worried.
You feel yourself individualized
without him there, but
you're ashamed.
You feel miraculously freed
in letting go, but
you're solo.
You feel slightly compelled
into fighting someone else, but
you're independent.
You feel painted externally
with newly found confidence, but
you're natural.
You feel lightened inside
without any suffocating misery, but
you're wiser.
You feel slightly tainted
from this experience, but
you're smiling.
