Stories

Cleared out the week prior, it's now fit to burst

Where do I accumulate so much stuff?

A crumpled reciept reminds me that 'Pete' was my cashier

That 2 diet cokes and a bag of plain crisps

Cost me £1.90, and urges me to come again

The number of old sweetheart

I ran into at the bank

Stuffed in the side compartment along with

Other long forgotten offers

'Give me a call! I'm at 0774...'

Wow, he'd changed, come into his own,

Bought a string of shops, and had his contacts on

A laminated blue card

The party invitation...from the girl in the office

That I really can't stand

But there are promises of champagne!

The pens, the lipsticks, the blunt and broken pencils,

The screwed up bits of paper and the countless

Bills, half empty packets of chewing gum

Story of my life...

Wonder what stories my bag will tell me next week?

I liked this poem a lot. I never really thought about what the contents of my handbag or purse says about me. But this got me thinking and I like that. Great write as always. Keep sending me poems, thanks.
