Burning Dance

Strike the match and light the candle.

Go into a daze watching the flame dance.

It dances in front of you, ever twisting, ever turning.

It’s performing a beautiful ballet before your eyes.

You sit for hours mesmerized by its sight.

Flickering, fluttering, glowing, giving out a wonderful light.

Pouring its entire soul into its magical dance,

Until finally, it has no more to give and begins to fade.

You still watch but now you’re saddened.

Saddened by the loss of this beautiful dance.

Saddened by its leaving you.

But most of all saddened by the loss of its beautifully burning soul.

This poem is beautiful. I like the way you used the flame of a candle for comparison, which has a deep meaning. Keep up the good work.
