Its Only

It's only money that I continue to waste,

It's only machinery that does have no taste,

It's only life that continues to breathe,

It's only a heart that continues to heave.

It's only merits that no-one counts,

It's only possibilities in that thinking abounds,

It's only a world that contains proof of death,

It's only the forgetting of what can be left.

It's only the stories that do catch the ear,

It's only the assumption of whom will appear,

It's only the blessed who carry the burden,

It's only the earth that is continually unearthened,

It's only the wish for the continuance of life,

It's only the shriek of catastrophe and strife,

It's only the security and safety defamed,

It's only humanity not God that's to blame.

It's only the view from a place far away,

It's only the visitors who would like to stay,

It's only the rantings and words of the mad,

It's only after considering that reality is bad.

I cannot say where I know, I can only describe where I could be.

The best thing about this piece is that every line makes a point....each line makes a unique statement in itself & each line carries its own 'food for thought'. There is much said here & so many thoughts to ponder. The most thought provoking line for me is:Its only humanity not God that's to blame.' This can apply particularily to the recent tragic events. If only the world would understand even one of the points / statements made here. A very profound & intelligent poem. Amy
