I Walk a Lonely Path

I walk a lonely path
A lonely dust beaten path

I scream out
But the only comfort is the sound of my voice

Echoing

Echoing for what feels like a millenia

I stop to draw a heart in the soil

And I think of you

A tear lightly falls to the ground

I wipe it away and wonder...

Why do things have to be this way?

Why am I always left in the cold?

It's a cruel world in which we live
One deceiving of the fictitious powers of love
Destroyal of the most beautiful people
And making them feel drained of worth
And here I am--destined to walk a lonely path
