Drowning Bait

Folder:
2009 Poetry

Angling by the side of a still deep lake,

line in the water collecting my thoughts.

Sometimes I find it hard staying awake,

unless I snag my line and untangle knots.

Just watching my rod waiting for a hit,

waiting for a trout to bite and commit.

One of life’s simple pleasures while on this earth,

to be enjoyed no matter the catch.

I’ve learned to enjoy what this life is worth,

when even a fish can be quite a match.

I love the last lines, to enjoy the simple pleasures this life can offer, and to give the fish the limelight is very smart of you.thanks for sharing.
