2008 Poetry

I’ll hold her in my heart forever,

one trial I must endeavor.

Sadness carried too long.

Although it will leave me never,

feelings that I will not sever.

She’ll always be my song.

Rime Couée

This is a French form consisting of two rhymes.
First there is a rhyming couplet of eight syllables per line,
then a third and shorter line, followed by
a second couplet, also of 8 syllables per line, that rhymes with the first one
and the sixth, shorter line that rhymes with the third line.
This gives us a suggested pattern :

x x x x x x x a

x x x x x x x a

x x x x x b

x x x x x x x a

x x x x x x x a

x x x x x b
