Her Other Mother

She was very fortunate as a child,
her neighbors were like family.
Childhood friends more like sisters,
their mother almost like hers.

As they grew older this never changed,
the sisters without blood ties grew closer.
Their mother stayed warm in her heart,
time spent with her was one of life's joys.

When years made her other mother grow old,
she was there to spend time and remain close.
Now she has passed on to life everlasting,
but her love will always remain in her heart.

Author's Notes/Comments:

My wife grew up with her childhood friends living next door.  Through all these years they have remained good friends.  Their mother passed on this Christmas which made me write this.

Irene you were always like a mother to her.  May you rest in peace.
