in the still of night

i'm watching over you

and you have no clue

your eyes are closed

and you're breathing softly

are you dreaming of me?

i vainly wish it were so

if i could...

i would give you the stars

the whole world

maybe then i'd be all you need

but..all i can give is my heart

wait, you already have it

but i suppose it doesn't matter

you're my whole world...why can't i be yours?

i have travelled a long way

to be here by your side

to lovingly watch such an angel sleep

i would die just so you

would never feel any pain

and as you lay there dreaming of things unknown to me

i cry, spilling tears onto you

wanting to stay ever after

but when you break from sleeping

i won't be here and you'll be none the wiser
