When Molly Moves On All Hope Will Be Gone

No useful opinion have I to exert

My threadbare thoughts arriving in spurts

While you guide the discussion I remain inert

I might not even notice if you said something curt

But amplified arguments make my ears hurt

I'll stick to my pledge not to dredge up the dirt

Passively grasp at what passes for principle

My weather-worn form less than invincible

What we had made is degraded and grey

Carefully kindled now dwindled away

All comfort dispelled from this corner of hell

With one continuous death knell

So cease with stalling and pointless longing

Sort through the piles of collective belongings

Yet while it's polite and I still have the right

I'll pull you in tight for a sweet kiss goodnight

And if you're still inclined to gently nestle

Close to this broken and hollowed-out vessel

No matter what motivates each nurturing stroke

I crave for the comfort when cheeks are soaked

I acknowledge the emptiness with absolute clarity

Though I'm not above pity and patronizing charity

If only I were simple and a delusional fool

Yet I fathom my failures and my judgement is cruel

Something wonderful has gone horribly sour and yet it's all there is and better than nothing.
