The Weight Of Uncertain Saturdays

In the beginning you said we were winning

And now the optimism is thinning

At the start I was impressed

Now just bedevilled by aggressive duress

To help me to cope you offered false hope

Today I just grope for a good sturdy rope

A noose to quiet all this abuse

Hold on to your deuce and we'll call it a truce

Spirit is drained and few friends remain

Enthusiasm is difficult to feign

So sick of statistics and numerals

All I can see is a future of funerals

No personal gains have I sustained

All I've spawned a look upon with disdain

Success undressed is an unpleasant mess

Overwhelmed with worry in this wilderness

Doomed as though trapped in gelatin

A suitable tomb for a skeleton

Rather than feud I'll stack the packaged food

Waiting for failure seems far more shrewd

A blown fuse long overdue spewing accusing views

No one in the path of this wrath remains unbruised

And when at last my allegiance is tested

You'll find I was never fully invested
