Saved in Sidon

11-21-02

I've heard of many miracles

I'm not sure that I believed them

But then again

Hope is better than nothing at all

It's much better than anything

Maybe I had to believe in something

That is

And when I heard of Jesus

I just couldn't resist

I had to have faith

Faith in something

Instead of nothing at all

So I approached him

I needed help

Why not admit it now

And was reassured

He was the one

I let him know

Of my conditions

Or more so of my daughters

And so I beg him

The son of David

His disciples shew me away

And I'm unmoved

But he says no

I can't accept that answer

I let him know that

But he insults me

I come crawling back for more

I love my daughter

And I think of that

As I agree with him

But then he smiles

And she is healed

Author's Notes/Comments:

IMPORTANT: Biblical, If you don't read the Bibleyou will probable not understand this. It is from the Parable of the Gentile
Woman and her daughter. I did it for a Bible homework. I find
this very touching, I hope you do too.

I see I have visited this poem before, and the second reading makes it even more splendid. I wish you would do an extended sequence, exactly like this. You have the ability to "get into" the character's mind and represent, in contemporary terms, the experience from an ancient event that is, spiritually, timeless. I congratulate you on the achievement in this poem, and I urge you to consider my suggestion . . . please . . .

This is a magnificent poem on a great theme, and I applaud you for being able to enter into the spirit of the event as you have.
