To You, the Poet

To You the Poet

Clark Steven Lupton

December 9, 2006

I thank all the poets

Who have sampled some of my rhymes

From the most regular reader

To just the occasional “sometimes”

I’ve written all these poems

To get my ideas of my chest

And I thank you for your patience

For how they were expressed

The topics are varied

My flight of ideas have been soaring

Some of them were surprising

But I hope none of them were boring

I know you have written poems too

Some were serious and some were funny

But we all do it to express ourselves

And wish they would earn us some money

To all of you who commented

And gave me lavish praise

I thank you a thousand thanks

In a thousand ways

And for the more regular readers

Like Aika, Lacie and Ruth

Your comments mean the world to me

That is the honest truth

We are mostly a bunch of poets

Whether we wrote so sadly that we sniffed

Or made us laugh out loud

Either way it’s our gift

And for you who are just curious

And your opinion may have a doubt

Thanks for giving my poems a try anyway

And for randomly checking them out

I just thought I’d acknowledge you all

For reading my rhyming stories and thoughts

And I don’t just thank you a little

I really thank you lots!

Author's Notes/Comments:

I had an itch to write a poem today. I thought a simple thank you note to those poets (or not) who've read my poems and have commented on them. All I did was think of my thanks and I was able to expell them in a quick efficient sitting,(sorry if this may sound like a diatabs commercial :o)
