Pigs are Everywhere!

Pigs are Everywhere!

Clark Steven Lupton

March 14, 2006

Pigs are everywhere!

They squeal and they shout

You can find them in the pigsty

Where they’re pigging out

They also pig out on the table

But they won’t use their spoon or fork

They’ll eat just about everything

But of course they won’t eat pork

And for dessert they put apples in their mouths

Because they’re on a diet

But when they learn that makes them food too

They go on a squealing riot!

Pigs are everywhere

They’re not just messy eaters who are obese

It’s also an unpleasant term

Mean people call the police

Yup! Pigs are everywhere

On the ground and in the sky

Haven’t you heard about believing the unbelievable,

When it so happens that pigs can fly?

And your dad may remind you of a pig

If at night he loudly snores

And pigs are not boring

But wild pigs are called boars

Everyone should have pigs

You should have yours and I should have mine

Who knows? Maybe the perfect pets

Could actually be pot bellied swine?

Pigs are cute and loyal

Just like a dog

And you’d be the envy of your neighborhood

If you owned a hog

Surely pigs are everywhere

There’s even the kind that motorcyclists like

The roads and hiways have hogs,

Which is also the nickname of Harley Davidson motor bikes!

And so there are pigs everywhere

They come in sizes from small to big

And if you eat messy or so is your room

Then you are also a pig!

Author's Notes/Comments:

I was at a Children's Book Talk on February 13, 2006 where everyone brought their favorite children's book to talk about and 1/3 of them brought story books about pigs. So I thought there must be something there in that pig formula and the next day I started this poem, but I didn't finish it until after a month. It takes a pig to write about pigs :o)
