Indigo Fire

You can try to ignore them:

the hungry ghosts of

memory that travel inside

you like an old romance,

or you can open your eyes

and see her:

the melting priestess,

the lake of moon.

She came down from

the web of Andromeda and

royal-colored silence,

ancient heroes

and cackling gods,

almost as sublime as

my own shimmering sorrow,

and she's now rinsing

everything in her sight.

Your inner self can drink it

also, and soon

you can levitate like

the ferns,

and you can finally stop

asking where God is,

because God simply is

and is every breath and star

and the indigo fire

draped all over your pain.

It is all the love you

want to slip into

like the glass chains above

and there,

in one glittering tragedy

after another,

love seems reachable,

perhaps even real,

but only the love that is

who we always were,

only the love that never needs

pieces of you

to create all of me,

only the love that

opens the door

and sets the other free.

Revisiting this example of

Revisiting this example of stunning verbal architecture, I can only stand in awed silence and feel the tears in my eyes as I behold such poetic beauty through the lens of your poetry.

As usual with your posts,

As usual with your posts, this poem just soars out of the earthbound and into the cosmos above.  I am always astounded by your use of astronomical imagery to support the poem's emotional base and extend its reach.

The only complaint I can

The only complaint I can raise against your poems is that there will never be enough of them.  I know I have not been able to read them all---although I am working on that---but still, there is only a finite number of them.  I have become addicted to your verbally powerful style---especially when you bring the outer cosmos so near through your words---and, like every addict, I wish for an endless supply for my thrill.

I'm very touched. Poems either show up or they don't, but your support certainly makes it rewarding when they do. My deepest gratitude.
