VOLATILE

Folder:
2003 Poetry

midnight shade imperils

a smile from the maw

of a childlike soul

the room is gravid with

dusty angst, penetrating

deeply unto one’s chine

no matter how one counters

this seclusion,

it clings, it looms

like the air that everyone breathes

it seeks through

it gasps for sanity

this tranquility is more

than life to bear

and i remain

the same

still

emotionally volatile

This is one of those poems that pace the room
and then leaps out at you looking for blood.
