UNGUARDED MOMENTS

Folder:
JOURNAL # 41

fluttering as you were

in the mayhem

a bold assessment

you shot my way

a Cavendish moment

brought about a curious

intermingling shared

that we both chose to foster

and allow to roam free

you and your minstrel's guitar

I and my bonny hillbilly wit

or lack there of depending

on whom one consults

we stood tall enough

for each other to keep

skyscrapers in our shadows

as we sized up each others spit

I'm a firm believer in 'Unguarded Moments'

so many allow them to slip by

unnoticed

ah but I take special sight

and catalog them with pride

and you sir

are a special 'Unguarded Moment'

you even admitted a feeling

nearly that of the same to me

an underestimation you made

early on

that we both nearly mistook in our

flawed perceptions to make

but with the offer of chance, second sight

and time

our mutual courses were allotted the leeway

to change course

and two indomitable spirits

became fully introduced

and a life long friendship I felt

was the result

so welcome to my life dear minstrel

with his lessons for me in hand

our meeting was noteworthy of immortality

via this poem I have just for you penned............

Author's Notes/Comments:

Written just now for my new friend Joe from Lousiana. A classically trained and telented guitarist, song writer and singer whom shared with me such insights to life and the shallowness of the everyday mundane that most choose to live under. At the very least he affected me as you can tell by this poem. I had a feeling while he and I were discussing our angles on life that a poem would come of our meeting and unexpected high level interaction.  I am glad I was able to immortalize my thoughts of this day and those unguarded moments with him I so enjoyed..............for it's moments such as these that make life so very much worth living.
