THOSE MISOGYNISTIC STONES

Folder:
JOURNAL # 41

so loud
yet still quite popular
true revelers in the flesh
demigods perhaps to some
though mostly today I feel
they gyrate about in vague disgrace
breast fed 60 plus year old babies
still rocking out stadiums
prancing and parading about
like lame peacocks for the masses
is almost adorable in a laughable
sort of way
Mick Jagger reminds me
of a more apt description
a Stick that Stagger(s)
the sound is what disguises
the actual misogynistic lyrics
blessedly audiences don't pay
all that much attention to the
actual lyrics' themselves meaning
its phonic more so than intelligible
amps and electric guitars
both blessings insulating
the inner ear
from a clear path to the deciphering brain
as centuries old troubadours they could
sour hay itself as they traveled
the twentieth century has been a kind era
for their brand of entertainment
to flourish and excel
60's pioneers ushering in a new wave's age
of music and flesh hugging excitement
the world will one day gape in surprise
upon their gradual deaths
ever shaking her disbelieving head
at 'Those Misogynistic Stones'
wrath and revelry in guitar riffs and
male moans....................

Author's Notes/Comments:

Was listening to a hard rock station last night at work and a few times they played old Rolling Stones songs like, 'Honky Tonk Woman' Start Me Up and I Can't Get No Satisfaction' and I got to thinking about these songs and the actual lyrics to them and how utterly misogynistic they sound. Especially Honky Tonk Woman one really if you listen close to it sounds derogatory. I would hate to be the woman who learned that this song was written with her in mind. Anyway, enjoy the poem and feel free to sling me some feedback on it if you so choose.
