GRADUAL PROGRESS REITERATED

Folder:
JOURNAL # 41

you spoke of gradual progress
both synonyms for evolution's path
two tidy packages of words
to broadly explain so much
can the hawk to the caged house
canary describe the sky
can a closet tell an unworn pair
of shoes what grass and dirt
really feel like on their soles
memories are ugly and beautiful
shadows on the heels of each
today we live
misers are angry overly attached
individuals to things that mean
nearly next to nothing
back in our real home
some get this early
and others never do
while the rest of us
hover in between
so progression in very
many instances
like most everything else
here upon this fallible plane
is one of many worn cloaks
of mere mortal perception...............

Author's Notes/Comments:

A friend and I were discussing his spiritual evolution and this poem sprouted up from that conversation.
