ROMANTIC SONG WRITER

JOURNAL # 41

'Romantic Song Writer'
virtuous rogue
spiritual liquidity
a supper of sensations
he offers
paged with goals
draped in universal
ideas
tripping over terms
of lyrical endearment
beseeching love
to come back home
blending melodies
into teenage crushes
matured to adulthood
flanked now in Vegas
by geriatrics and
disco remembering
sappy romantics alike
who never forget
his wall papering of the
1970's with a vast catalog
of easy listening tunes
that so many found
very hard at the time
to listen to
but for the stray few
hundred million or two
who to this day can still
sing along to his every hit
some 40 plus years prior
to even the advent of I Tunes...............

Author's Notes/Comments:

Was listening to some most beloved ( at least by me anyway) Barry Manilow tunes on you tube earlier this evening and got to thinking about how timeless he has been to his fans. How his appeal transcends decades and this tongue in cheek poem came to me. I'll die loving your music Barry such as, 'Weekend In New England' and my all time favorite of 'Somewhere In The Night'. Please don't take offense of this poem. It was written by though what may come off as a self deprecating but still know am a total fan of your extensive collection of timeless
great radio ballads.
