RARIFIED BEAUTY

Folder:
JOURNAL # 41

laying as you were
upon the linoleum
amid splashes of sunshine
through the glass
to the thinker's mind
a question arises
an insignificant thing of death?
a mere mowed blade of grass
yet to a poet
your texture, your color
the case of your
mysterious appearance
marvels the creative sphere
within
to mull over
unto the minimal after thought now
a rarified thing of beauty
a spirited gift
left for me to ponder
as it were as such
so out of place
so Holmes to my pen
as it were
elementary indeed
so i spoke to this page of your strange
entrance into my field of vision
as eloquently as I knew how..........

Author's Notes/Comments:

I found a stray blade of freshly mowed grass on my kitchen floor laying right in the tiniest sliver of sunshine coming through the closed blinds. I found it fascinating as I had not been outside nor had my own yard been recently mowed. I picked it up and carefully twirled it admiring how startling green it still was and so filled yet with life. Not dull like one would imagine something that had been cut from its life source of food and water. I gently laid it upon the edge of the kitchen counter top when I heard my clothing dryer ring and as I was folding laundry I found myself like Sherlock Holmes trying to deduce how a freshly cut blade of grass that was obviously not from my very own yard, got into my kitchen and managed to find one tiny sliver of sun coming from through the window blinds and lay itself there. It was most ingenious, the game was truly afoot! To the point my mind was tripping happily over itself.
