SPICE MERCHANTS

JOURNAL # 41

unbear seriously
the unbearable burden
culinary princesses
offloading another 's
Hollandaise sauce
critiquing the spice
of interruption
with the tiniest hint of
coriander
the now is a peptide
but this particular one
divides the present
from the past
not two proteins fighting
over some tiny amino
acid's eventual demise
war is the argument of
whether parsley is really
food
or a mere garnish
as forbearance lays in
one's ability to distinguish
lust from love
appetite for the flesh
or the fabric's glue
of life
'Spice Merchants'
then
the lot of us
fall into the latter category
when it comes to
selections of
variety verses flavor
though ornamental are
each our flawed opinions.........

Author's Notes/Comments:

how those of us who are deeper more often than not choose deeper. One won't find too many poets toting around a bunch of shallow meaningless friends for we know the cost to self that piles upon us. We seek out in others their truer deeper selves to explore and share with us. At least that has been how it has been for the bulk of my adult life. The truly shallow tend to naturally find themselves getting dismissed from my life. Why be friends with anyone my deeper self ponders if there is no real meaning to it but casual entertainment or for mere surface appearance's sake. If one wishes to know me then take the time to really and truly get to know me, add to my life something so I can add to your own otherwise why bother. I wish more people would follow this mantra.
