slate gray sheets
she lays
conjuring the illusion
of what the morrow brings
bird songs filter out
each seismic gloom
forcing tragedy
to speak no more
snoring dogs
at the bedside
whisper back
from safety nets of love

Author's Notes/Comments: 

how even when yesterday may not have felt so safe and tomorrow has things lingering in its midst that are scary for the moment if we focus on what is and what we have we can feel safe as we can only truly live in the now.
