A POEM TO A WISE OLD HEART

Folder:
JOURNAL # 41

the dawn did not break
to dry up your tears
the dawn came to
shine yet more light
upon the beauty of
your many lived years
so many walk around in darkness
talking to their fears
others sing in grace
and watch for the good
that suddenly appears
you ever notice after every bad
event
good arrives in droves so near
that inner band of communion
threads thicker in the wake of
disaster
sending tragedy on a tear
the goodness in people
cannot be beaten out
they rise like little birds
dive bombing a big snake
that has taken over
a nest filled with chicks
of one of their own
their little outraged hearts
soar
as their tiny wings flap
they know together they can
push evil out
even a little tiny bird
with a few feathered friends
understands this
can you not see God in that
certainly evil walks among us
but God lives within us
and nothing by him, goes unnoticed
so look beyond the smoke and flame
to see the hope filled helpers' faces
coming towards you
you are those helpless little birds in a nest
and God will always send his
love strong fighters
to come from out of nowhere
with kind, helping faces
to offer whatever aid
they can
to assist
and attend your wounds
contact your families
and or save you
but even if they can't
you know they will
step forth
remove their own coat
and cover your
precious remains
out of respect and dignity
for who you were
a fellow human who lost
his or her life
for some inexplicable
reason of hate
the terrorists never win
their egos tell them they do
as they just further destroy
their own souls
with each executed attack
look around in the aftermath
now
see the good rising up to sing
for that innate goodness knows
we are all one in the same................

Author's Notes/Comments:

written for a very dear man who was feeling so very low and I hoped my words might give him some perspective and cheer him up somewhat.
