THE MASS EXTERNALS

Folder:
JOURNAL # 40

unimpressed visions
sing poverty a song
enviable constructs
hinder the availability
of work that could
bring such necessary funds
trying times indeed do warrant
spiritual under pinning
as well as strong mental resolve
deep inner joy
stands behind every mark of
misery
as individual evolution is a ball
the choice rises large
in the face of danger via
the psyche of all
stand bitter and stagnate
to make due with much less
and change as the circumstances
call
man is a marvelous though often
evolutionary mess
he is given the same lesson
repeatedly
only to at the very last moment
then alter his path
so to further prevent
additional regress
a conundrum of human brain myopathy
we've grappled to get away from
over thinking for ourselves
yet under doing for everyone else
leaves a muck pit of corruption
of ignorance's hatred to
'The Mass Externals'
has the lower lip of humanity
perpetually quivering
are we better or worse
that is easily answered
better in technology for some
worse in education and aid
for a large percentage of the
struggling rest
amid the toil and tread
ancients are forever remembered
as their less than lucky descendants
argued, immigrated and bled
leaving today what little humanity
of brethren is left
difficult as it may seem
all life if littered with lessons
disgruntling homework and tests
most just don't have the capacity
to fully realize that
and we call them poor
when in our own selves
many a time that is the literal fact.................

Author's Notes/Comments:

Was reading some articles in a news paper a friend sent me and it was speaking about poverty in precise details and that inspired this poem to emerge about how some are physically poor and others are worse off even when they feel not so physically poor as they are spiritually poor. I hope that comes across in my poem.
