FREELY GIVEN

JOURNAL # 40

and sometimes
even
wisdom herself
cries
but for what
man can
only remotely
surmise
for lack of better understanding
perhaps
sharp concern for the narrowness
of man's minds
the ravages from the fall out of
ridiculous wars
and the futility of supposed
superiority undefined
so many locks and chains
we bind our human race in
so much needless hate and fear
we guard ourselves from
far too many hungry children
walk around cold and
disillusioned
forsaken by governments who
can afford guns and bombs
but not the funds to support
their finest treasure
'Freely Given' to them
the beautiful little minds
that house the seeds of wisdom
if but it only had a proper garden
to flourish in
and is that not reason enough
for why sometimes even wisdom
she sometimes cries?
choose to be diplomatic if you
like in your rhetorical reply
or turn your chin up in denial
yet the world will still know
if we were but to
just ask a child, hungry, cold
and dirty who's been fed
all his life nothing but
hate and lies
he would overwhelmingly agree
at the sight of his dire circumstance
even wisdom herself would cry...................

Author's Notes/Comments:

I have to be honest I saw a fellow post poems poet's id under the on line users list and it was wisdomscry and that got me to pondering does wisdom cry and to me I've always viewed wisdom as a female word ( you know kind of like the French do all their words they make certain ones male and certain one's female) so in that vein I always imagined wisdome must be female and the idea just too off from there. So thank you fellow post poems poet (or poetess sorry, I didn't look the poem came too quick!) for your insightful id. You were the catalyst for this poem.
