BASKING IN HER VERNACULAR

Folder:
JOURNAL # 37

impressed in compilations
though taken aback
I must say
by the lack of
lived years
I found
tacked on to
the said artisan's face
the well of her 'Vernacular'
is a sparkling magical
thing
to dip my eye cups
in to read
we become
who we are meant
to be
through
our experiences
environment and
generation
and find ourselves
growing up in
particular days of sunlight
and through even shadows
all are crucial ingredients
that mold
to create
the writer around her
uniqueness
her recollections
and through every lift of
her verse
the tenacious voracity of her sage
bluff burns itself swiftly
beyond twilight
and emerges to yet another
even more fiery morn
tonight I discovered a young
poetess climbing
to heights she will not fully know
in herself
for years to come
in essence it was as if
her talent's jewel
exceeded her poetic heist
I was proud to read
such a yet discovered find...................

Author's Notes/Comments:

inspired by reading fellow poetess Carly McKay's poems here on post poems. I particularly liked No Love In A Bake Shop and The Weekend After.
