MR. GLORIOUS BATTLE

Folder:
JOURNAL #35

steeped in history

his demeanor

stands tall

miners

and farmers

masons

and blacksmiths

alike

stop to listen

to

any singing of

his praises

whether field worthy

or a church social call

he saved a way of life

that those involved

did not wish to see die

he was a master of

the moment

and the universe bent to

his will

he stood unarmed

and forced a detour

upon the will of

a cavalry of men

in ragged uniforms

women wept in

relief

for his staving off

what could have been

for them

a fate far worse

than death

though that little town

never forgets

his guts through grace

today him to the world

I attempt to make known

Mr.Glorious Battle

deacon of his church

yet

the averter of  evil

he came to be known

a hero in an old

pressed suit

holding a whip in one hand

and a Bible in the other

waylaying a band of

wayward perpetrators

who yet learned

the past unpleasantness

was indeed well and thoroughly

over.............................
