SUBTLETY AND SUBTERFUGE

Folder:
JOURNAL #14

there are prices that we all must pay

legions upon legions of piling debt

put upon our weary, laden shoulders

getting more and more in society's way

the sins of the father

fall too heavily now upon the son

visions of a better tomorrow are tainted

by what has already been done

death of the 'traditional family unit'

is greatly being felt

through out state after fed up state

racial tensions are at an all time high

resulting in crimes of unbelievable hate

the government claims 'all is not lost'

but belief in their loose lip allegations

result in hostile harmony brought on at a

staggering cost

the current status quo is not fit for this

latter millennium's consumption

risks should not be taken at the cost of

the people to stroke the politician's bloated

egos

which they've labeled as Budget Reduction

it matters not who comes up with the plan

be he Republican, Democrat or the minority

Independent

simply let it be done while there still is

time

otherwise our higher standard of living  will

succeed only to then out live each individual

man

and wouldn't that be the ultimate, unforgivable

disgrace

to any and all involved

every last member of the American division of

our too human race..................

Author's Notes/Comments:

the deficit piling up was a huge worry even back in early 1996 is obvious by this poem of mine. I was reacting to what I had been seeing on the nightly news.
