TO MY SO VERY MIGHTY BUT TENDER CAVEDWELLER

Folder:
JOURNAL#1

pen your daringest thoughts

of deeply cherished rhyme

and place them trustingly within

the gentle confines of these crisply offered

clean white pages

and just remember

the number '43' never had it quite so good

as when you inhabited its narrow yet fine

graceful corners while marking the careful

edges of your own allotted time

and never for even the blink of a moment

doubt that to me you are forever a man

residing rather well within

his splendid prime

so have a stupendously Happy Birthday

my so very dear and uniquely special you

I hope you take such great joy from the

numerous little tokens of my so apparent

gentle fondness where you are concerned

as they are geared for the unharnessed

pleasure of your so very fetching mind

consider each one as a tangible form of

thankfulness for the rich friendship we

both have so lavishly dine upon together

and without boundaries it has become

as near as it can be to that of so earthly

sublime

and so on this day

your day

know that my very soul

if she could

would gladly reach out and cheerfully

embrace the enchanting essence of your very

own

but since she sadly enough can not

then see these gifts as but humble legs

that walk to you quite joyously in her silent

stead

I find myself lingering in the wish

that they pay a modicum of homage to at least

some of your likes......................

(Birthday poem written in the mid 90s some time

to my pen pal Dave in Michigan)

Author's Notes/Comments:

did not have any other copy in my poetry journals of this Birthday Poem so I put it in my first journal as I had some empty pages in the back of that one to still use up.
